OSCAR NIEMEYER – THE SCULPTOR OF MONUMENTS

Considered as one of the most influential people in modern architecture, Oscar Niemeyer is one of the few Brazilian, and international personalities, still alive with an impressive legacy for many generations to come. 

 “Oscar Niemeyer, the Sculptor of Monuments”, takes a trip through the curves and daring projects planned by the architect that gave lightness to reinforced concrete. With the first great construction, “Conjunto da Pampulha”, he began to write a new chapter about international architecture. Traces of work by Niemeyer helped make Sao Paulo, the great Brazilian metropolis, less arid. The creation of Brasilia, the city that was born on a clipboard, projected Niemeyer onto the world stage. Construction in Europe during his exile in France, when he went from praised architect to suspect under Brazilian dictatorship.
