Imagine an auto shop with the following motto: “Cars Repaired, People Transformed.”  That’s what Wreckovery sets to do: fix an old car, needed by its owner to make a living, and return it like new. In a reality-show format, Wreckovery features heartbreaking stories of people who, with just a wrecked car and lots of willpower, manage to move on in life. Thousands of people send letters or e-mails telling how vital their cars are in their daily lives. The best story is selected and that person’s vehicle is repaired. But there’s a caveat: the owner must face a great challenge and then undergo a transformation as radical as that of his own vehicle. During the show, the audience decides whether or not the contestant deserves to get the car back. Wreckovery shows the auto shop where the vehicle is restored plus scenes of its owner getting ready for the challenge. If contestants earn the audience’s approval, they get their cars back fully restored, like new, and ready to make their lives much easier.
