Eduardo is a young, idealistic professor who must raise his son Lipe alone. His heart is torn between two women: the rich Amélia Mourão and the lawyer Clara Gouveia. Amelinha who is the daughter of the greedy farmer João Mourão, the most important businessman in the small town of Nova Aliança. Clara is a kindly lawyer who, like Edu, is an environmentalist. Together, they fight to have a forest region made into a nature reserve.
