He was an only son and lost his mother at the age of five to be raised by his father, the millionaire Afonso Lambertini (Lima Duarte). As the only heir to one of the country‘s largest fortunes, he refuses to accept any money from his family and neither will get involved with his father‘s business. Paco does not agree with his father ways to earn his fortune, since Afonso has run over many people and deforested several areas to build up his enterprises. Paco is a botanist and optioned for a common middle class life. He is self-contained and romantic. Despite the fact Paco has never fallen in love he maintains an engagement to Bárbara (Giovanna Antonelli). In the beginning of the plot he travels to Maranhão and meets Preta (Taís Araújo), the one and only love of his life. The couple experiences an intense passion to be battered by Barbara‘s evil. Paco gets into a helicopter accident but stays alive. However, because his body was never rescued he is is belived dead and the news are broadcasted on TV. Paco believes the confusion can be an unique opportunity to start a new life, away from everything and everybody.

Bárbara is the beautiful, sexy, inteligent and dissimulated villain, who is capable of performing any plan to achieve her goals. Bárbara was raised to be a princess, but due to her parents¿ bankruptcy she was forced to pursue other ways towards the life she had always dreamt about. She has been Paco¿s girlfriend for many years without ever liking him. On the contrary, she even despises his humble ways. But she indeed ¿invested¿ in the relationship expecting a financial return. Bárbara has her lover Kaíke (Tuca Andrada), as an accomplice to her plans. Paco has never been suspicious about his girlfriend, though. Bárbara works at Lambertini Foundation just to stay close to Afonso (Lima Duarte) her future father-in-law. Through the performance of a good daughter-in-law she tries to approximate father and son, and take advantage from the family¿s fortune. She is determined to marry Paco and is willing to eliminate anyone who might interpose her path. As she finds out that Preta is a real threaten to her plans Bárbara will not save efforts to keep her apart from Paco. After the fiancé¿s accident she raises her son Otávio with the financial support given by Afonto (Lima Duarte), not admiting her affair with Kaíke (Tuca Andrada).

Preta is a romantic young woman born in Maranhão, with a good character and a sense of humor. She was raised by Dona Lita (Solange Couto), her mother, and has never met her father. Despite her sad past she is uresentful, always sees the bright side of life and works her ways to survive. Since a young girl she has helped her mother by selling medicinal herbs from a little tent downtown in São Luís, capital of Maranhão. When she is not working she dances the typical tambor de crioula with her friends or goes out to have fun with her best friend Helinho (Matheus Nachtergaele). Just like Paco, Preta has never fallen in love and also maintains an insipid relationship with Dodô, the musician (Jonathan Haagensen). When Paco shows up in São Luis, Preta is absolutely sure he is the man of her life. Even against her mother‘s will - who does not believe the good intentions of the carioca young man - Preta decides to live this love. Preta is victimized by Bárbara‘s dirty move to keep her away from Paco. Preta hears about Paco‘s death in a car accident on his way back to Rio de Janeiro, as the news are broadcasted. She is struck with sadness and overcomes it only by discovering she‘s carrying the seed of the greatest love of her life. Preta decides to raise her son Raí by herself, counting only on the help of her mother and Helinho, without looking for Paco‘s family.

Paco’s father (Reynaldo Gianecchini). He is a brilliant and cultured man but also a moralist with no sense of humour. Afonso inherited a small business and in 30 years he transformed it in one of the largest business conglomerates in Brazil. At home he is a man of rigid moral principles while at work he is a fierce and determined entrepreneur, capable of terrible actions to maintain his empire. Afonso has lost his wife many years ago and never got married again. After her death he has concentrated all his affection and care to raise Paco, his only son. After his death Afonso has lost the will to live and secluded himself in his mansion. Not even the birth of his grandson Otávio made him change. Afonso seeks refuge in his own grief and guilt for having lost a son without ever making clear how much he loved him.

She is the matriarch of a family composed by fighters from Rio de Janeiro. After the death of her husband Napoleão Sardinha, a legendary master of the martial arts, Edilásia (Rosi Campos) widowed, and her five sons Apolo (Reynaldo Gianecchini), Ulisses (Leonardo Brício), Thor (Cauá Reymond), Dionísio (Pedro Neschiling) and Abelardo (Caio Blat), inherited the mission to carry on the family tradition. Mom Sardinha, as she is commonly known, is honest, affectionate, loyal to her family and frieds. She gets by and supports her sons selling natural sandwiches and juice at her beach kiosk. Her sons are her pride. She tried to educate them in a way her husband would have liked: keeping a healty life, with a well balanced diet to turn them into athletes.

Country girl, simple, charming, without a lot of education. She is almost innocent in her simplicity. She falls in love with Luis Jeronimo (Daniel de Oliveira), by being very honest, without any tricks. She is Tobia’s fiancée (Malvino Salvador), but when she finds out she doesn’t love him anymore, she ends the relationship and decides to confront everybody to have her true love.
