The winner at the 37th International Emmy Awards for best telenovela, ‘India – A Love Story’, has its first premiere confirmed. Channel Acasa TV from Romania will televise the drama from 11 January 2010 during primetime.
Distributed internationally by Globo TV International, ‘India – A Love Story’ had an investment of US$200,000 per episode. There were more than 40 days of recording in India and Dubai involving the principal cast, apart from the reproduction of Indian landscapes such as the River Ganges and Rajasthan at Central Globo de Producao in Rio de Janeiro. The telenovela, when it was televised during primetime in Brazil, reached 81% of audience share for its final episode.
The story, written by Gloria Perez, author of ‘The Clone’, tells of the differences between the cultural customs and traditions of Brazil and India. The central drama is based on the love triangle formed by Maya (Juliana Paes), Raj (Rodrigo Lombardi) and Bahuan (Marcio Garcia) and is set in the cities of India such as Jaipur, known as the “Pink City”, and Agra, famous for the Taj Mahal, Internationally recognized actors such as Tony Ramos (‘Belissima’) and Lima Duarte (‘Shades of Sin’) make up the cast of the telenovela.
Acasa TV is an old partner of Globo TV International and has already televised other important TV Globo titles such as ‘Pages of Life’ and ‘The Clone’ which was put on air four times by the channel.
‘India – A Love Story’ is one of the bets for NATPE 2010.
