The Favorite attains high ratings in Ecuador

The telenovela ‘The Favorite’ has attracted more and more attention from television viewers of Ecuavisa in Ecuador, where it has been broadcast since July this year and is the leader in ratings since its premiere during prime-time. Between August 3rd and 24th,  the  Globo TV International production attained 15,5 audience points with 22% of the share, leading the time slot. (Source:  TV Date 4.  Module Ranking . The airing of the telenovela in Ecuador is part of a volume agreement made last year between Ecuavisa and TV Globo. The channel still has plans to screen other products from the 2009 Globo TV International catalogue such as ‘ The Prophet’,  miniseries ´Maysa ‘, the comedy series ‘The Cleaning Lady’ and ‘Normal People’. At the moment the channel also televises the telenovela ‘Soul Mate’. 

‘The Favorite’ has been distributed internationally by Globo TV International since January of this year. In Brazil, the telenovela was aired during primetime and reached high audience numbers, with the average share being greater than 60%. In its final stages, the drama got up to 76% of audience participation, a record for Brazilian television. Currently, the telenovela has been sold to 70% of Latin American countries and is scheduled to premiere in Argentina, Puerto Rico, Ecuador, Chile, Uruguay, The Dominican Republic, Paraguay, Peru, Bolivia, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Honduras in the coming months.
 
In a modern and energetic style, the "feuilleton' series shows the rivalry between Flora (Patrícia Pillar, from ‘Little Missy’) and Donatela (Claudia Raia, from ‘Seven Sins’), old partners in a country music duo. After serving an 18 year prison sentence for the murder of Donatela's husband, Flora leaves prison bent on proving her innocence, accusing her ex-partner of committing the crime. At the same time, she wants to get reacquainted with her daughter, Lara (Mariana Ximenes, from ‘Pepper Chocolate’), raised by her rival. Lara is the sole heiress to a printing empire, and is at the center of the dispute between the two main characters.
