On the ninth of this month, an exclusive compact version of the miniseries ‘Som & Fúria’, a TV Globo production in partnership with O2 Filmes, was shown at the international film festival Roma Fiction Fest 2009, an annual event in the Italian capital.
The general-director of ‘Som & Fúria’, Fernando Meirelles (“City of God” and “Blindness”) was present and, upon organizers’ invitation, participated in a debate about the miniseries. Niv Fichman and Susan Coyne from the production team of “Slings and Arrows”, the Canadian series that gave way to the Brazilian version, also took part in the discussions.
Captured and shown exclusively on HDTV, ‘Som & Fúria’ tells the behind the scenes story of a Shakespearian theatre troupe that fights to maintain artistic quality, even with a full house. While the actors live their dramatic characters on stage, life backstage is a great comedy. The cast line-up includes actors such as Felipe Camargo (Soul Mate), Andréa Beltrão (Big Family), Pedro Paulo Rangel (Belíssima), Dan Stulbach (Women in Love), Daniel de Oliveira (Snakes & Lizards), Rodrigo Santoro (Women in Love) e Débora Falabella (The Clone), among others. The Teatro Municipal of São Paulo was one of the main production locations, as well as many scenes shot on an identical set, constructed in O2 Filmes’ production studios.
‘Som & Fúria’ is another result of the partnership between TV Globo and O2 Filmes, which has already rendered productions such as the series ‘City of Men’, about two friends living in the same slum in Rio de Janeiro. Distributed by Globo TV International, ‘City of Men’ has already been sold to countries like Germany, Australia, Belgium, Denmark, Ecuador, Scotland, The United States, Finland, France, Greece, England, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Mozambique, Norway, Portugal, Sweden and Venezuela.
