After conquering the Latin American market, the telenovela ‘The Favorite‘ has arrived in Eastern Europe. The production, which achieved a record share of 76%, has already been sold to the channel Rustavi 2 in Georgia, and is one of the distributor‘s wagers for Discop 2009. The event starts today in Budapest, and goes until Friday, the 19th of June.
In addition to the traditional telenovelas, miniseries, documentaries, comedy and drama series. The catalogue offered by Globo TV International during Discop has a new feature: the list also includes the Non Scripted Formats ‘Xtreme Connection‘, ‘The Video Game‘, ‘Laugh-O-Meter‘, ‘The Spelling Game‘ and ‘Wreckovery‘.
‘The Favorite‘
In agile and modern style, ‘The Favorite‘ unravels the rivalry between Flora (Patrícia Pillar, from ‘Little Missy‘) and Donatela (Claudia Raia, from ‘Seven Sins‘), old partners in a country music duo. After spending 18 years in prison for the murder of Donatela‘s husband, Flora leaves prison wanting to prove her innocence, accusing her ex-partner of committing the crime. At the same time, she wants to get closer to her daughter Lara (Mariana Ximenes, from ‘América’), who was raised by her rival. Lara is the only heir to a paper mill empire and is in the middle of the dispute between the two characters.
‘The Favorite‘, which was sold to 70% of the countries in the Latin American region, is slated to launch in the second semester in Argentina, Uruguay, Ecuador, The Dominican Republic, Paraguay, Peru, Chile, Bolivia, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Venezuela, Honduras and Puerto Rico.
