This week, viewers from Canada are getting the opportunity to follow the telenovela ‘Little Missy’ from the beginning. Distributed by Globo TV International, the production is being broadcasted since the 27th April by the Rogers OMNI Television media group.
This is not the first time that Rogers OMNI Television is including productions from the Brazilian distributor in its programming timetable. The channel has been showing Globo TV International’s productions for about 10 years, and recently broadcast the miniseries ‘Seven Women’ and ‘Amazonia’, as well as the telenovelas ‘The Clone’ and ‘Her Own Destiny’.
The telenovela‘s story takes place in 1886. Its central character, Little Missy, is the young daughter of the largest slave and land owner in the small city of Araruna, the powerful colonel Ferreira - known as the Baron of Araruna - and the beautiful and submissive Candida. The plot starts when Little Missy returning to Araruna by train, after finishing her studies in the province‘s capital. During the voyage, she meets the young lawyer Rodolfo and falls in love with him at first sight. When they arrive at the station of the small city, the pair go their separate ways.
Little Missy has ideas about ending slavery and declares herself against the attitudes and political convictions of her father, which makes him furious. Rodolfo, for his part, shares the same ideas as the lovely daughter of the colonel, but to get closer to Little Missy, he decides to pretend to be a monarchist and defend slavery. This is the alternative that the lad finds in order to win the confidence of the Baron of Araruna, and therefore get closer to his beloved. This is the start of a great story about a struggle for political ideas, strong friendships and principally of love.
