Starting this month, viewers from two countries in Asia will be able to enjoy themselves with comedy series that are successful in Brazil. Distributed by Globo TV International, ‘The Cleaning Lady‘ and ‘Big Family‘ will launch this month in the programming of channels Telenovela, from South Korea, and RTTL (Radio and Television of East Timor), from East Timor.
The presence of the productions in the regions is part of deals closed between the Brazilian distributor and main media groups in each country. In South Korea, the broadcast of the comedies is part of the contract with close to 10 thousand hours of varied programming signed at the end of 2008 between Globo TV International and the group EPG, which retains the channel Telenovela. In the negotiation which is valid for 5 years, the broadcaster relies on a timetable entirely made up of productions from Globo Organizations, transmitted to the whole country with subtitles in Korean, a characteristic of the market.
In East Timor - where Portuguese is an official language, like Brazil - the broadcasting of ‘The Cleaning Lady‘ and ‘Big Family‘ are part of the contract that the distributor maintains with RTTL and is valid until 2014. The Timorese can already watch other programmes produced by TV Globo in Brazil, like the telenovelas ‘Little Missy‘ and ‘New Wave‘, as well as the ‘Sito do Pica-Pau Amarelo’, a production inspired by the literature of Monteiro Lobato, one of Brazil‘s principal writers.

Showing the mix-ups of a confused domestic servant in the different houses she frequents, ‘The Cleaning Lady‘ is a funny and versatile comedy that has already been sold to the Dominican Republic, Peru and Ecuador. In Malaysia, the series is shown on prime time on the country‘s main channel. The production is one of Globo TV International‘s bets for Miptv this year, which will happen between the 30th of March and the 3rd of April in Cannes, France.
